Box of Rain

"Rainy season" usually means that it rains every other day for about an hour. But with hurricanes now to the west and to the east of us, we're coming up on our 24th hour of nonstop rain, and this has brought into into sharp relief one of this house's major design flaws: there are no internal doorways. To get from one room to another, you have to walk across the little courtyard in the middle - or, to put it another way, you have to step outside into the pissing rain. Need to get to the bedroom? Out into the rain! Hungry? It's just a short, soaking dash to the kitchen. Bathroom? The umbrella's by the door. We're very relieved it doesn't snow here.
