Keep a Clean Nose, Watch the Plainclothes
When you see a headline like U.S. in Canadian Manual as Possible Torture Site, the obvious first thought is, "Well, no shit, Sherlock!", followed closely by "'Possible.' How very...Canadian." Then, if you're me, you sit back, feel ever-so-slightly smug about not being in America, and read on.
The Foreign Affairs Department document, released Friday, singled out the U.S. detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. It also names Israel, Afghanistan, China, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Syria as places where inmates could face torture.
Wow. That's some good company we're in.
