All I Need Is My Dope and Dead Presidents

As part of the ongoing effort to put food on my family, I recently started work on a project involving Our Beloved 16th President, Abraham Lincoln. (I shouldn't say too much here, because most of you don't have the required security clearances, but the long and short of it is that there are a lot of perfectly viable A.L. blood samples out there. You've seen The Boys From Brazil? Nuff said.)

Anyway, there could be a lot of days in the next six months where we're short of material to feed the internet beast, so we'll probably resort to shoveling some Lincolnalia at ya. For instance - stop me if you knew this already - today is the 126th anniversary of the death of Mary Todd Lincoln - that tall, cool drink of water pictured at right.

Just as we noted a couple days ago that, say what you will about the French, they have Carla Bruni to our Laura Bush - France's "First Lady" in the 1860s was the comparatively babelicious Empress Eugénie de Montijo. Plus ça change...

Tell *your* first lady that I said ¡Feliz cumpleaños!

Eugénie actually looks a bit like Laura.

Hence "babelicious"...

Your Land-of-Lincoln guest house is ready here in suburban Illinois. It is gets Wi-fi. Bring Laura too.

That is NOT Empress Eugenie, but a rather dowdy woman of the same epoch, one can tell due to the style of the dress.
Try again: there are many lovely ones online by Franz Xavier Winterhalter, put in a search under both the names!
I just had to correct this to be fair! Thank you...

Isn't it possible that it's just a bad portrait of her? Anyway I can't tell them apart, except that one looks like a younger version of the other.
