Opportunism Knocks

With McCain, the li'l veep lady, and their massive entourage racing to the Gulf for a disaster-preparedness photo-op (and some potential backdrop scouting for the acceptance speech), I'd like to take a minute here to mention that my book, City Adrift: New Orleans Before & After Katrina, which Publisher's Weekly called an "excellent exposé of corruption and incompetence...conducted by seven outstanding journalists," is still available on Amazon for just $17.21. (Free Super Saver Shipping on orders over $25.)

I am monumentally impressed with the customer's review on Amazon who gave two stars to the book because it didn't have a lot of pictures. I can't believe that someone would actually write that. What is this, the 4th grade?

So... you and John McCain can both take advantage of Gustav. It looks like you may come out on top though.

I dunno - keeping Bush and Cheney away from the convention is arguably better than moving a couple more units of this thing. I don't even get royalties.

Never underestimate the stupidity of the American people... NOT your book, but giving the Bushista any excuse to come across as anything other than half-way "concerned" or "prepared" just gives the morons an excuse to inflict four more years on the human race.

That's why Pat Robertson prays for these things.
