Meet the Beatles!

Because we traditionally move our editorial offices to the US during the Thanksgiving holiday, we were unaware that every November for the past 12 years Querétaro has hosted a massive conference/expo called the Beatles Festival. This year's event is tomorrow in the Auditorio Josefa Ortiz, where, among other highlights, attendees can gaze upon an original edition of the infamous "butcher cover" - la portada de los carniceros - of the "Yesterday and Today" album. The idea, apparently, is that Mexicans are hungry for a glimpse of bloody carnage these days.

Meanwhile, the Autonomous University of Querétaro is planning to offer a course in Beatles Studies next year, which would certainly help cement the town's reputation as an educational Mecca. And it's conveniently close to Liverpool, so field trips won't be a problem.

If you can't tell the Beatles from Buddy Holly, we'll slow down a bit.
