The Road Best Not Taken

Sure, there's plenty of room on the sidewalk to anchor this enormous street sign/stop light combination, but it's just as easy to put the thick metal post right out in the street, on a curve, in the middle of a crosswalk, and then paint the post the same color as the pavement and the night sky.

What could possibly go wrong?

And this is why I end up hitting stuff when I drive at night in Mexico! No mas!!

Do you pay them to do shit like that? Because there is no way a rational person would paint the base yellow to confuse the drivers.

The real problem with that intersection is that you cannot see the traffic light as you drive on Arista approaching Universidad until you arrive at the intersection. Having lived a block from there for 5 years I heard many skids and the occasional crash. I do not think anyone ever hit the post since it is a bit to the left. Stupid placement nonetheless.

You just need a bit more time to acclimate to Mexico...

I shake my head when I see a nice wheelchair ramp finally installed somewhere, and the cars park bumper-to-bumper around the corner preventing anyone but a walker to squeeze through.

After an a hit and run accident that occurred at the that junction, I witnessed a car that was trying to avoid the weckage plough straight into that exact sign post. Viva.
