The Long and Winding Road

We know that English is a hard language to spell, and "abbey" is an especially hard, not to mention rarely-used, English word, so making fun of a Mexican for misspelling it "abeey" would seem like something of a cheap shot.  Unless, of course, it was the name of your own fucking night club, and you had spelled it correctly on another sign twenty feet away.

The best part is, this sign's been there for a year and a half. Ni modo.

The borrachos don't care if it's spelle, abbey, abeey, abbie, abeei, abbeei as long as the cervesas are cold.

They are right across the street from me, and they charge their exorbitant full cover even at 1AM, when the band has all of three songs left. They have lost literally tens of thousands of pesos worth of palomas and Don Julio Reposados by, denying me late-night entry at a discount, the way it's done in Alphabet City. And, in the end, the pesos they don't take, is equal to the pesos I make.
