Propagandapalooza!

PRI spokesmodel/presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto was in town yesterday to do some presidential campaign spokesmodeling. This should be pretty routine (Querétaro is a reasonably important city a short drive from the capital) but everyone gets all aflutter because there's a celebrity in town - especially the completely impartial PRI fanzine Plaza de Armas. Today's front page screams headline "PRI Will Return to the Presidency," over a picture of Peña Nieto, Governor Calzada (who we believe is required by law to appear on the front page of every paper at least five times a week) and Plaza de Armas publisher Sergio Arturo Venegas, who delivered Peña Nieto a copy of yesterday's Plaza de Armas heralding the Great Man's arrival in our humble little cow town.

We would love to sit in on PdeA's front page meeting.  "Okay, whadda we got?"  "Well, boss, this afternoon you delivered a copy of today's paper to Peña Nieto."  "Fuck me! We got photos?"  "Exclusively, Sir."  "Great work, people!  Tear up whatever you've got and lead with it - and don't spare the wood!"

We're not sure how long Peña Nieto is in town, so there's a chance tomorrow's paper will feature a picture of Venegas delivering him a copy of today's paper with the picture of him delivering yesterday's paper, and so on, and so on...
