Porfirio, 2001 - 2014

The perro lost another dear old amigo this weekend, when Porfiro, who was rescued from the streets of Guanajuato as a tiny puppy 12 years ago by our friends David and Lenny, departed this world suddenly and painlessly in the middle of the night. He was still bouncing around like a puppy the day he died. To say he hit the jackpot the day they found him would be a massive understatement.

The three of them moved back to the States a few years ago, but to this day, whenever the perro - who is generally oblivious to the sights and sounds around him - walks past their old house, he turns and walks to the door and waits for us to knock on it, and for his old pal to come barking and scratching at the door when we do. We tug him gently and pull him on his way, and he always looks back once or twice as he goes. We don't imagine the sad news of this weekend will change that.

Vaya con Dios, amigo.

What a great portrait of your perro and Don Porfirio. What a grand looking animal he was. He looks like he knows he's the man.
